Contact Mount Difficult Poll Hereford Stud (Stud letters MTT)

The greater part of our herd was sold in February 2015 but we retained some of the younger females and heifers that were been born afterwards and have continued to breed from them. Much of the farm has been leased with the result that we are now aiming at a herd of only about 80 breeders.

News of some of the animals sold at our sale in February 2015 has been trickling back to us:

Mount Difficult Centennial, who was a calf at foot when his dam was sold to Centennial, was sold to a partnership of Cascade and Otapawa in New Zealand for $30,000.

Centennial Jetfire N002 , out of Mount Difficult Glynis H67, was Calf Champion at Wodonga in 2018 and was sold for $14,000.

A bull by Mount Difficult Cadbury C8 topped the Banemore sale at $14,000 in 2018.

Warragundi Minnesota M001, All Breeds Grand Champion and Supreme Beef Exhibit at Sydney in 2018, was out of Mount Difficult Page M59 purchased at our sale in 2015.

Mount Difficult Kearney K18 purchased at our sale by Morganvale as a yearling was the sire of the two top selling bulls at $10,500 each at their sale in 2019.

The top selling bull at the Wirruna Sale on 13th March 2019, Mclaren M175, whose granddam, Mount Difficult Lorna C11, appears on both sides of the pedigree, brought $16,000. We now have 24 calves on the ground by M175 that are showing great promise. The top selling female at $4,250, Wirruna Victoria G92, was sired by Wirruna Daffy D1 , bred by Mount Difficult, whose dam was in calf when she was purchased by Wirruna.

At the Wodonga Show and Sale in 2019 the Junior and Grand Champion Bull, Tarcombe Justin, and the Senior Champion, Tarcombe Forte, were both from Mount Difficult Lorna B123 by different Wirruna sires. Also at Wodonga the Reserve Intermediate Champion Bull, Ravensdale Blackhawk N081, was by another Mount Difficult female, Lorna J11.

For the past two years we have AI’d all our females in order to broaden our genetic base as rapidly as possible. We now have many promising March 2018 drop calves by Wirruna Fletcher F214 and Wirruna Leap Forward L95 and March 2019 calves by Wirruna Matty M288 [the first of the Super Sires] and Wirruna Mclaren M175.
